Principal’s Message
Dear P.S. 93 Community,
I write this message with excitement, as I have had such a rich experience in partnership with you thus far. It is an honor to serve you! This school year I joined the P.S. 93 Community in school year 2021-2022 with 19 years of experience in education, as an Elementary, Middle, High School Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal for 9 years in NYCDOE District 79. My experience in District 79, alternative schools has afforded me the opportunity to serve learners of various academic levels and needs, as well as time working alongside staff members to creatively deliver the highest level of service to our students and their families. A valuable lesson that I've learned throughout my journey that has influenced my decision to transition from High School, is the importance of developing readers within their formative years, as I've encountered many high school students with gaps in their learning. I join you with the passion to close the achievement gap, to work together to ensure that all of our students develop mastery and a love for reading that promotes lifelong learning. My fundamental goal is to meet every child where they are and develop them each year by meeting their academic and social emotional needs. I am excited when I see children learning new concepts, engaging in learning experiences, are happy and having fun in the process!
At P.S. 93, I take pride in working alongside my community of faculty members, and families to meet the needs of our scholars, grounded in our vision and mission. We welcome every scholar, affirm their backgrounds and identities, and partner with our families and the community. We ensure high expectations and provide rigorous instruction for each scholar, grounded in international mindedness and S.T.E.A.M. educational approach. educational approach. We engage our scholars in personalized learning experiences that cultivate real world-knowledge with access to inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking skills. We provide support systems and develop the whole child, fostering collaboration, social consciousness, and cultural awareness and acceptance to meet the needs of our changing world.
Society has been met with many challenges throughout the pandemic that has fractured the learning process for our scholars, their social development, and has affected homes in ways we did not anticipate. We are now on the verge of repair, hope, promise, and new beginnings. We have work to do! I am a strong believer in team, collaboration, and the notion that there is nothing we can’t achieve together. We are now in the midst of repair, hope, promise! It is my pleasure to be of service to our school community and I look forward to the success of all of our scholars this year!
