Principal’s Message
Dear P. S. 93 Community,
Hello and welcome back to school! It feels great to be back together again! I hope you all had an amazing summer filled with adventures, laughter, and maybe a little bit of relaxation with your children. As we dive back into our school routines, I want to take a moment to share some exciting things we have planned for this year. First off, we have some fantastic new teachers and support staff joining us who are eager to share their passion for learning and serving children and families. We are also excited to welcome back returning teachers and staff. I encourage you to welcome them with open arms and get to know them as they have spent the first few weeks of school fostering relationships with your children and creating safe, warm and welcoming classroom communities.
This year we will continue to prioritize reading and build on the successes of last school year's focus on the New York City Reads initiative and new curriculum, Expeditionary Learning. We will place emphasis on creating a data informed culture, one in which we will systematically use accurate, actionable data to guide decisions, improve instruction and enhance student outcomes. We will also be introducing some new programs that focus on both academic excellence and personal growth. We welcome a new STEM cluster that will engage your children in hands-on activities with experiences in science, technology, engineering and math. Your children will also engage in Restorative Justice 4Rs lessons each week in community circles that will strengthen their relationships with their peers and teach them skills that will support their social emotional growth.
We are also committed to making this school year as enjoyable as possible. There will be events such as spirit weeks, talent shows, parent workshops, family STEAM activities, and community service opportunities for your children. These events are not just about having fun, but also about building a strong school community. I encourage each of you to partner with us, participate with your children and make the most of each opportunity. As we embark on this new journey together, we will ensure that every day is a new opportunity for your children to learn and grow. Let’s support each other and make this year one to remember. Here’s to a fantastic school year filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories.
