MICHELLE WHITE

Michelle White smilingI began my journey in the NYC Department of Education as a paraprofessional working in Districts 16, 18, 23, and 75. After several years of working as a paraprofessional, I served as a Special Education teacher for about 15 years in District 79. My experiences afforded me the opportunity to serve students with disabilities, court involved youth, and students with gaps in their learning. I am excited to work alongside Principal Michelle Robinson and the entire school community at P.S. 93 The Magnet School of STEAM to provide students with quality academic and social emotional services to meet their individual needs. I look forward to continuing this important work in partnership with parents/guardians and the school community to service our students at P.S. 93.

School Secretary
aallen38@schools.nyc.gov

Hi I am Annekie Allen. I am the School Secretary. It’s an honor and privilege to be a part of this amazing community of staff and children. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Baruch College. One interesting fact about me, I am the first to attain a college degree in my family. I’m a firm believer of breaking generational cycles. Two of my favorite mottos I live by are “your past doesn’t determine your future” and “you can achieve anything once you put in the work and set your mind on it. Therefore, no matter what walk of life you are coming from you are able and capable of beating the odds that are stacked against you.

PETAL DAVIS

Teacher

pdavis20@schools.nyc.gov

I am the 3K teacher at P. S. 93 The Magnet School of S.T.E.A.M. For as long as I can remember, I have had a firmly rooted belief that a great teacher seeks to further the development of the whole child. This is especially important today as we adjust to the drastic changes thrust upon us during the Covid-19 pandemic. While the end goal is to produce academic excellence, it is inherent to teachers to carefully assess the whole child and be willing to address individual needs. As an early childhood educator, I understand that nurture precedes academic rigor. Since we know that early development sets the foundation for lifelong learning, educators must be willing to invest time and effort to ensure that students acquire the skills necessary to reach their social, emotional, physical, and cultural developmental milestones. Hence, I strive to provide a nurturing environment where children feel comfortable and safe enough to want to engage in meaningful conversations.

During my stint with the DOE Spans five years, I’ve been an educator for almost thirty years. I taught high school for many years in my home country Guyana, before migrating to the United States. I also have a lot of experience working with young children in and around my community. So, if you are looking for a great place to begin your child’s educational journey, choose P. S. 93 The Magnet School of S.T.E.A.M. where excellence is our only option.

My vision is that the school counseling program will support all students with the necessary skills to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. My goal is to help all students by supporting, listening, and advocating for them. Most of my work stems from person-centered support guided by Carl Rogers who believed that people have the potential within themselves to grow and achieve. This approach is built upon individuality, independence, privacy, partnership, choice, dignity, respect, rights, equality, and diversity. My aim is to collaborate with families, staff, and community stakeholders to ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. I believe in our slogan, Teamwork, together we achieve the extraordinary.” Together, we can believe and achieve that P.S. 93 is a foundation to build our students of the future.
